Caring for your Big Green Hound collar and lead
Everyday Cleaning
Paracord is naturally low‑maintenance. For routine dirt or mud:
* Rinse the braid and adapter with slightly warm (not hot) water to remove surface debris.
* Use a small amount of detergent or dog shampoo to gently scrub any remaining dirt. A soft toothbrush works well; avoid harsh bristles or strong chemicals.
* Rinse thoroughly, dry the hardware and adapter with a soft cloth, and allow the braided section to air dry out of direct sunlight.
Deep Cleaning
For heavier mess (such as fox poo!) your collar or lead can be machine washed:
* Place the item inside a wash bag to protect your machine from the hardware.
* Wash at 30°C or below.
* Air dry only. Do not tumble dry.
Tip: Tomato ketchup can help neutralise stubborn fox‑poo odour. Apply, gently scrub, and rinse. Just please be aware this might discolour lighter cord colours.
After Beach Trips
Sea water can be harsh on all dog gear, but a few quick steps will keep your collar in great shape:
* Rinse thoroughly with fresh water after returning home.
* Dry the adapter and hardware to prevent rust.
* Allow the collar to air dry away from direct sunlight.
For dogs who regularly enjoy the beach, brass hardware is a highly corrosion‑resistant option that offers additional protection.
Additional Care Tips
To keep your Big Green Hound gear performing at its best:
* Check hardware periodically. Ensure screws and fittings remain secure.
* Prevent chewing. Paracord is not edible.
* Keep away from fire. Flames and high temperatures should always be avaoided.
